control Your Circadian Rhythm

Taking Advantage of Your Circadian Rhythm

There has been a lot of talk recently about circadian rhythm, as three American scientist won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their studies explaining how cells tell time. In layman’s terms, circadian rhythm is your internal “clock” that tells your body when to go to sleep and when to wake up.

Now mastering your circadian rhythm may not solve your vaginal dryness problem, but it can certainly help your regulate some of your other menopause-related symptoms.

A Disrupted Rhythm

The circadian rhythm naturally cycles with the morning and evening. Sunlight is one of the major indicators to your body that it’s either time to wake up or to go to bed. However, people are too used to being out of sync with this natural rhythm. Whether it’s staying up too late then trying to use caffeine to make up for it or spending too much time indoors staring at bright LCD screens, you’re throwing off your circadian rhythm.

So what? Why should you care whether or not you’re in sync? Some of the basic answers are that disrupting your circadian rhythm can be a factor in obesity, diabetes, sleep disorders, depression, certain types of cancer, autism and a variety of dementias. If you’re going through menopause, tack on feminine dryness, fatigue, hot flashes and weight gain. Just thinking about all these things is enough to exhaust you, imagine living it.

Get in Sync

If you don’t want to trudge through these uncomfortable symptoms, you should do two things. First, take Femininity™ to ease the vaginal dryness—the most annoying of menopause symptoms. Then, start getting back into the rhythm: the circadian rhythm. Since sunlight is so important to your internal clock, start spending more time outside. Go camping or just get outside for a brief walk.

Practice a good sleep routine. Have a set schedule that doesn’t vary too much. Avoid consuming caffeine late in the day.

There are countless things you can do to have a healthier lifestyle. It’s important that you find something that works for you and makes you feel comfortable in your own skin.
